The 12th International TURKCESS Congress will bring together the scientific community at Near East University from September 3-5. 467 researchers representing 98 universities from 9 countries will participate, presenting 340 scientific papers. Enriched with panels and workshops in addition to scientific presentations, the congress will address the future of education from the perspectives of different disciplines.

The TURKCESS International Education and Social Sciences Congress, which strengthens international academic collaborations in the fields of education and social sciences, will be held for the 12th time in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, hosted by Near East University. The congress, taking place on September 3-5, will comprehensively evaluate how education systems can respond to changing societal needs and how future education models will be shaped, under the main theme of “Inclusivity, Sustainability and Transformation in Education in the New Century”, from the perspectives of various disciplines.

The congress, to be held at the Near East University Irfan Günsel Congress Center with both in-person and online participation options, will offer academics, researchers, and scientists the opportunity to share their current work with international academic circles, engage in scientific interaction with colleagues from different countries, and develop new academic collaborations.

TURKCESS 2026 will feature 467 researchers representing 98 different universities from Turkey, Northern Cyprus, Azerbaijan, the United States, Kosovo, the United Kingdom, Italy, Nigeria, and Germany, presenting a total of 340 scientific papers. The congress’s scientific program includes a total of 612 registered authors, with an average of 1.80 authors per paper. The participant profile reveals a wide academic diversity, ranging from graduate students to professors, teachers, specialists, and research assistants.

In terms of subject distribution, education, teaching, and programs take the top spot with 160 papers; This area is followed by sociology, family and society with 98 papers, and psychology and guidance and counseling with 96 papers. 51 studies in the field of artificial intelligence and digitalization are also among the prominent research topics of the congress. Inclusive education and sustainable education are among the most frequently used key concepts in the papers.

TURKCESS, having been held in various countries such as Turkey, Azerbaijan, North Macedonia, and Kosovo up to today, has brought together hundreds of academics from more than 20 countries. The congress, which will hold its 12th meeting in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, aims to strengthen scientific interaction among academics, researchers, and students in different regions of the world, especially in the Turkish cultural geography, while also contributing to the interdisciplinary visibility of original research in the fields of education, social sciences, and humanities.

The congress will cover topics such as inclusive education in schools, inclusive education practices, inclusivity in preschool education, teacher models in inclusive education, school-family-community relations, and inclusive learning environments. Curriculum and educational materials, quality and inclusive education in higher education, best practices in education, and policy approaches to promoting inclusivity will also be among the topics of scientific discussions.

In the sustainability dimension, topics such as education for sustainable development, sustainable education in schools and for teachers, inclusive and sustainable education in special education institutions, and 21st-century skills and sustainability education will be evaluated.
