Near East University and International Final University have signed a new cooperation protocol to support joint development in education and research.
Bringing together their academic knowledge and experience towards common goals, Near East University and International Final University have signed a comprehensive protocol to strengthen cooperation in many areas, primarily education and research. The agreement, which will take institutional cooperation between the two universities to a higher level, aims to develop joint scientific studies, increase the sharing of knowledge and experience, and implement long-term academic projects.
The protocol, which came into effect with a signing ceremony held at Near East University, was signed by Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and International Final University Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Gemikonaklı.
With this protocol, the two universities aim to create a broad area of cooperation ranging from academic staff and student exchange to joint research projects, scientific events, and academic sharing. Through jointly conducted research, conferences, seminars, and workshops, the more active participation of academics and students in scientific production processes will be encouraged.
Near East University, ranked among the top 500 universities in the world, recently signed cooperation protocols with Eastern Mediterranean University, Lefke European University, and Cyprus International University.

Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that collaborations between higher education institutions will add value to the TRNC higher education system, saying; “We attach great importance to strengthening the culture of cooperation among universities operating in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.” Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ added, “We may be located on a geographically small island; however, our universities possess a competitive edge that transcends the island’s borders through their scientific output, research activities, and international achievements. Thus, acting together towards common goals will make significant contributions to the development of our higher education system and the strengthening of our universities’ international visibility.”
Prof. Şanlıdağ expressed his belief that the signed protocol will produce concrete academic outputs. Dr. Şanlıdağ said, “I wholeheartedly believe that this collaboration will form the basis of sustainable academic partnerships that will shape not only the present but also the future.”
Prof. Dr. Orhan Gemikonaklı: “I hope this collaboration will continue successfully for many years.”
Stating that he believes the signed cooperation protocol will provide significant gains for both universities, the Rector of International Final University, Prof. Dr. Orhan Gemikonaklı, said, “I hope that this protocol we signed today will transform into a lasting, fruitful, and exemplary collaboration for many years to come. The proximity of being two neighboring universities operating in the same region will allow us to create a much stronger synergy in academic and scientific fields. I believe that by reflecting this proximity in joint research projects, academic exchanges, and student and faculty mobility, we will create added value for both institutions.”
