National gymnast and coach Ay Türkay Özata underwent a successful tissue transplant operation at Near East University Hospital. Özata, who is recovering under medical supervision, is preparing to return to his sports career.
Ay Türkay Özata, the 27-year-old national athlete and coach of the TRNC Gymnastics Federation, had been away from sports for a long time due to a health problem in his foot. Having regained his health through a tissue transplant operation carried out at Near East University Hospital, which is also the official health sponsor of the Federation, Özata is preparing to return to his sports career. The successful 5-hour tissue transplant operation was undertaken by Near East University Hospital as part of its health sponsorship.

Near East University Hospital has signed health sponsorship protocols with the TRNC National Olympic Committee, as well as the Turkish Cypriot Football Federation, the TRNC Gymnastics Federation, the Kickboxing and Muaythai Federation, and the Northern Cyprus Touring and Automobile Association.

Sapsızoğlu said, “Our athlete needed a tissue transplant and had been receiving treatment at the state hospital for about two months. The support given to us by Near East University during this process once again demonstrated the value it places on the country’s sports and athletes.” Stating that the Near East University Hospital is the only center in the TRNC where this surgery can be performed, Sapsızoğlu continued, “The other option was to seek treatment abroad. Today, seeing our athlete rapidly recovering at the Near East University Hospital makes us all happy.” Sapsızoğlu added, “We thank all the healthcare professionals who contributed to this process and the Near East University family for their unwavering support.”

Ay Türkay Özata, who underwent a five-hour tissue transplant operation at Near East University Hospital, said, “During the process of our injuries and health problems, I understood once again how necessary such cooperation is. Özata, who stated that he underwent a critical operation lasting approximately five hours, said, “The health sponsorship of Near East University Hospital enabled me to access treatment more quickly and safely.
