Young Minds from the Near East University Take the Stage Again: 41 Young People, 13 Projects

Young people from the Near East University, who attracted attention by achieving double championship at TEKNOFEST TRNC 2025, will once again showcase their technological and innovative power with projects ranging from artificial intelligence to health technologies at the “Young Minds New Ideas Project Market and Graduation Projects Competition.”

Near East University students are preparing to participate in the “Young Minds New Ideas Project Market and Graduation Projects Competition”, which will be held for the first time in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, with their innovative projects. Organized by the Turkiye Informatics Association, the TRNC Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and the TRNC Information Technologies and Communications Authority, and hosted by European University of Lefka on May 8th, the event will feature 13 projects and 41 students from Near East University, prepared under the guidance of 9 advisor faculty members, showcasing their technology-focused work.

The event, which will showcase projects developed by students studying computer science, software, and relevant engineering fields, aims to strengthen university, public sector, and industry collaboration and to make the innovative ideas of young entrepreneurs visible on national and international platforms. Intended to contribute to the “Information Island Cyprus” vision, the competition will give students the opportunity to present their projects to industry representatives, investors, and technology companies for assessment. Successful projects will be rewarded, and the event also plans to support joint project development processes with industry.

From Artificial Intelligence to Health Technologies, There are Many Projects!

Near East University students will participate in the Young Minds New Ideas Project Market and Graduation Projects Competition. Near East University will participate with the following projects: the AI-powered recruitment application “Employment Intelligence”, the fake news detection system “FOYA”, the smart route planning application “Smart Route AI”, the digital map-based “Digital Cyprus” project, the LoRa-based communication system “EasyLink”, the exam scheduling software “Exam Scheduler”, a biosensor development project for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, two different health technology studies for the electrochemical detection of vitamins B2 and B12, the “Hollow Core Slab” system for industrial structure production, an AI and Internet of Things-supported smart planter system, the Near East University Autonomous Vehicle (NEU-AV), and the “NeuroMemory Robot” project for search and rescue robots.

Near East University was a Double Champion at TEKNOFEST TRNC 2025!

Near East University achieved a historic success at the recently held TEKNOFEST TRNC 2025 finals, winning the championship in the “Research Project Competition Agriculture Category” with its “Heavy Metal” team, and also receiving the “Prestigious Award” in the “Environment and Energy Category” with its “EcOceanX” team. Among the 268 teams that reached the finals out of 15,750 teams and 47,865 competitors, Near East University stood out as one of the strongest representatives from Northern Cyprus and the only university to achieve a double championship.
