University Rectors from the Turkic World Meet in Samsun!

The “Turkic World Urban Planning Summit”, hosted by Ondokuz Mayıs University in Samsun, brought together the rectors of universities from the Turkic world. Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Rector of Near East University, which is among the top 500 universities in the world, represented the TRNC.

The “Turkic World Urban Planning Summit”, organized by Ondokuz Mayıs University with the aim of developing sustainable urbanization policies and strengthening academic collaborations in the Turkic world, has concluded.

At the summit held in Samsun, Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ represented the TRNC and participated in the Rectors’ Session titled “Universities in the Turkic World”. Meeting with university rectors from Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and North Macedonia, Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ described Near East University’s contributions to education, research, and social transformation.

The summit, which saw high participation, included Binali Yıldırım, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, as a guest of honor. The two-day event aimed to develop urbanization policies among the Turkic world, promote the concept of sustainable urbanism, and increase opportunities for academic cooperation between universities.

Near East University’s Success Strategies for Reaching the World’s Top 500 Shared!

At the summit, Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ presented the university’s scientific vision, research-oriented development strategies, and management approach that prioritizes quality in higher education. Prof. Dr. Şanlıdağ provided information about the university’s efforts to increase its international academic visibility, innovative research infrastructure, interdisciplinary collaborations, publication productivity, and projects focused on contributing to society, emphasizing that this approach has propelled Near East University into the top 500 universities in the world. Touching upon the strategic planning approach that transforms scientific production into sustainable success, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ stated that the university has become a strong academic brand not only regionally but also globally. Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ said, “We believe that inter-university cooperation in the Turkic world should be increased, joint research networks should be developed, and student exchange programs should be strengthened. I think that such platforms are extremely valuable for our common academic future”.

Near East University Signs the Final Declaration!

The final declaration prepared at the end of the summit was signed at a ceremony held in the Senate Hall of Ondokuz Mayıs University. The declaration was signed by Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, Rector of Atyrau University of Kazakhstan Prof. Dr. Salamat Nurmuhanulu İdrisov, Rector of International Vision University of North Macedonia, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Vecdi Can, and Rector of University of Management and Future Technologies of Uzbekistan Prof. Dr. Muhammadismoil Mahmudov.

The declaration includes: The key decisions included the establishment of the Turkic World Academy of Urban Planning, the creation of joint research centers in the field of urban planning, the development of digital information banks and open data platforms, the expansion of student exchange programs, and joint action by cities on climate, water security, and smart city applications.
