Academics and students from Newcastle University in England visited Near East University.
Near East University, ranked among the top 500 universities in the world, continues to open its doors to international students. A group of students and academics from the Department of Political Geography at Newcastle University in England visited the Near East University campus as part of an academic visit program. The delegation, which also toured the GÜNSEL Production Facilities, exchanged ideas on potential academic collaborations with the university. The 27-person delegation was accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çıraklı, Director of the Near East Institute.
During the program, the group toured the campus and received information about the ongoing projects. Beginning their visit at the GÜNSEL Production Facilities, the group examined the production processes and obtained technical information from officials. The delegation also received information about GÜNSEL’s first model, the B9. Following the GÜNSEL Production Facilities, the participants also visited the Cyprus Car Museum, having the opportunity to observe cultural and technological developments simultaneously.
During the meetings, which also addressed regional developments, the Cyprus issue, and current dynamics in international relations, the views of local actors were directly examined through field studies. As part of the visit, the delegation also met with the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs and various stakeholders, exchanging information.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çıraklı, who accompanied the delegation, provided information about Near East University’s long history, academic structure, and future vision projects. Sharing his views on the university’s research, international collaborations, and interdisciplinary academic studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çıraklı emphasized that such visits are of great importance for both students and academics in terms of exchanging information and gaining experience. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çıraklı stated that the visit would contribute to strengthening academic collaborations and deepening mutual understanding between the two institutions.
