Near East University students are preparing to bring laughter to the audience with their humorous sketches filled with familiar moments from everyday life. “Sketch Night – Run! There’s Comedy Again!” will take place on Thursday, March 6th at 7 PM at the Atatürk Culture and Congress Center.
Near East University, ranked among the world’s top 500 universities, values not only knowledge but also moments that bring joy to people, and this time, it is giving its stage over to the power of humor and the creativity of young people. Prepared in collaboration with the Near East University Students’ Dean Office and the Theatre Club, “Sketch Night – Run! There’s Comedy Again!” invites the audience to an evening full of laughter.
The free performance of Sketch Night will be held on Thursday, March 6th at 7 PM in the Grand Hall of the Atatürk Culture and Congress Center. Consisting of two acts and a total of five independent sketches, the event will attract attention with its dynamic structure. Drawing inspiration from current events, the sketches will bring friendship, love, camaraderie, and family relationships to the stage through the universal language of humor.
Directed by Ali Birsen, the evening features assistant directors Taha Erkbey Özkan, Cihat Kaya, and Emre Sivil. Lorin Akgül is the stage assistant, Yusuf Efe Coşkun is in charge of contolling sound and lighting design, and Yağmur Atalay is responsible for the set design. Zeynep Söğüt is the stage manager. The Sketch Night, brought to life by the stage energy of young theater artists, promises an unforgettable evening for both students and theater and humor enthusiasts.

Highlighting the stage energy of the young theater artists, Near East University Students’ Dean Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz said, “The energy and creativity of our actors will be strongly felt on stage.” Dudu Özkum Yavuz, also mentioning the activities of the Theater Club, said, “Our Theater Club aims to create a warm and sincere connection with the audience by bringing the creativity and social awareness of young people to the stage.”
Stating that the plays to be staged will bring to life familiar moments from daily life, friendships, and family relationships through the universal language of humor, Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz said, “Our event is not only a stage performance but also a social gathering. Our aim is to ensure that our audience has an enjoyable, sincere, and unforgettable evening and to bring the creativity of our young people together with society.
