In the “World’s Best Scientists” ranking published by the AD Scientific Index, 41 academics from Near East University were ranked in the top 10% globally. 69 academics from across the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus achieved this distinction, and Near East University faculty members constituted 59.4% of them.
Near East University made a significant difference with its results in the “World’s Best Scientists” ranking published by the AD Scientific Index which is an international higher education ranking organization. 41 academics from Near East University were ranked in the top 10% globally, making it the TRNC’s best university by far.
Furthermore, according to the same ranking, 8 of the top 10 academics, 19 of the top 25, and 32 of the top 50 academics in the TRNC were among the staff of Near East University.
8 of the top 10 scientists in Northern Cyprus are at Near East University!
According to the research, the top three academics in Northern Cyprus work for the Near East University. Prof. Dr. İsa Dumanoğlu, Dr. Sercan Şen, and Prof. Dr. Kerem Cankoçak, who stand out with their work at CERN, are also among the world’s top 500 academics. Prof. Dr. Hüsnü Can Başer, Prof. Dr. Fadi Al-Turjman, Prof. Dr. İsmail Ruhi Uman, Dr. Yasir Waheed, and Dr. Tomiwa Sunday Adebayo from Near East University are also among the top 10 academics in the TRNC.

Commenting on the results of the rankings released by the AD Scientific Index, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, Chairman of the Near East Enterprises, noted that 18 Near East University academics were among the top 2% globally in Stanford University’s recently released ranking of the world’s most influential scientists. He said, “As Near East University, we are once again proud of the achievements of our scientists. These results from the AD Scientific Index clearly demonstrate our scientific productivity and the international impact of our academics.”
Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel also said, “Behind these achievements, lie the dedicated work of our scientists, our strong research infrastructure, and our vision that encourages research, innovation, and productivity.
