TURKSOY decorated Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel with the 25th Independence Anniversary Medal of Turkic Republics

Coming together with Near East University Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel in Ankara, the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) decorated him with the 25th Independence Anniversary Medal of Turkic Republics. Besides, the parties signed a comprehensive protocol establishing concrete artistic and cultural cooperation between the them.

According to the press info released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the protocol, which aims to develop artistic and cultural cooperation between Near East University and TURKSOY, was signed on behalf of their institutions by NEU Founding Rector of Dr. Suat İ. Günsel and the Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) Dusen Kaseinov. TURKSOY Vice Secretary the General Professor Fırat Putaş and NEU Vice Rector Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu attended the protocol signing ceremony as well.

Before realizing the signing ceremony, a short film reflecting the images from “TURKSOY Painters Gatherings” event that held in TRNC as well as information about Contemporary Arts Museum, which is going to be established by Near East University.

Professor Kaseniov: “NEU and TURKSOY have been in Collaboration for 10 Years”
Underlining that TURKSOY is an international organization which establishes cooperation among Turkic speaking people in the fields of culture and arts, TURKSOY Secretary the General Professor Kaseniov stated that they had been in collaboration with Near East University for ten years. He also highlighted that their collaboration aimed not only develop relations between parties but also to explore, to protect, to develop and to maintain the common civil heritage of the people speaking Turkic languages. Finally, he underlined that they had experienced a successful collaboration process with Near East University in terms of the common future of the Turkic world and cultural integration.

Professor Kaseinov; “This Museum to be opened will contribute to exhibit the Distinguished Works of the Painters of the Turkish World in TRNC and to Convey Our Cultural Richness to the Younger Generations”
“The protocol that we signed today will propel our cooperation further and bring tremendous richness to the life of culture and arts in TRNC. Today, we have gathered here to carry out this significant project having great value for the painters of Turkic world. In order to provide a contribution to the Contemporary Arts Museum, which will be established by Near East University, TURKSOY held “TURKSOY

Painters Gatherings” in TRNC; an outstanding exhibition featuring the art works created by the talented artists from Turkic speaking countries was unveiled at NEU Grand Library within ten days with the dedicated efforts of the academic staff of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of Near East University. In order to enhance the collection, we are going to grant 17 more works from TURKSOY painting collection to the Contemporary Arts Museum to be established. This museum to be opened will contribute to exhibit the distinguished works of the painters of the Turkish World in TRNC and to convey our cultural richness to the younger generations” said he.

In his remarks, the Founding Rector Dr. Suat İ. Günsel underlined their commitment to continuing to work with all their might and open new horizons for TRNC and our people. “Near East University is a vibrant and dynamic educational institution that offers quality education to more than 30 thousand students on a distinguished campus which houses 18 faculties, Near East University Hospital, Dental Hospital, Animal Hospital, Super Computer, Olympic Swimming Pool, Sports Tower, conference halls, culture and congress centers, research centers, high-end equipped laboratories, museums and Grand Library. Grand Library features more than 2 million books while the number of e-journal articles exceeds 550 million. It has been selected as the center library of the Turkic World by the Presidents of Turkic Republics. Near East University attaches great importance on scientific projects and publications. At least 200 scientific projects are carried out steadily. Our project concerning producing electric car is being carried out. The number of our annual publications exceeds 120 scientific publications. We also attach great importance on social and cultural developments of our students. The biggest mosque is under construction and the Contemporary Arts Museum will be constructed in the shortest time possible. We, as Near East University, are dedicated to conveying our cultural heritage to younger generations” said he.

Dr. Günsel: Arts and Culture have a crucial role in Integrating with the Turkic World”
In his remarks, the Founding Rector Dr. Günsel expressed that one of the important ways of taking root in Cyprus was to stake a claim on our culture and art. “I firmly believe that the more we blend with the culture and arts of the Turkic World, the easier we will be able to ensure the unity and integrity. Having this in mind, we exert effort to strengthen the perceptions of the Turkic people about TRNC, we conclude cooperation agreements with the universities of the Turkic world and we allocate scholarships every year to the students from Turkic republics. Arts and Culture is to undertake a protective role in integrating with the Turkic World. For this reason, we have decided to establish the common museum of Turkic communities. We have already conducted some works and collected more than 1500 art-work for the museum which will have been constructed within two years. I’m so happy. This will intensify the integration. Feeling that we are not alone in the Mediterranean is something different” said he.

Following the speeches, TÜRKSOY Secretary the General Professor Dusen Kaseinov decorated the Founding Rector Dr. Suat Günsel with the gold medal dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Independence of the Turkish Republics (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) and then granted the paintings of the painters from Turkic speaking countries.
