Near East University faculty member Prof. Dr. Ghadir Golkarian made a presentation on D-8 Project at the conference that held in Gebze Osman Hamdi Bey Culture Center by Erbakan Foundation Kocaeli Branch.
Within the scope of the 5th anniversary of Necmettin Erbakan’s death, the Kocaeli branch of Erbakan Foundation held a conference titled “A New World” in Gebze Osman Hamdi Bey Culture Center. Derviş Eroğlu, the 3rd President of TRNC, Fatih Erbakan, son of the deceased Necmettin Erbakan and the Chairman of Erbakan Foundation, Prof. Dr. Ghadir Golkarian, faculty member from Near East University, Ahmet Tekdal, Founding Chairman of Refah Parti, Sacit Günbey, State Minister of the 54th Turkish government, İsmail Müftüoğlu, former Minister of Justice, Yücel Mollaismailoğlu, Vice Chairman of Erbakan Foundation and the representative of Kocaeli province, and many invitees participated in the conference.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Prof. Dr. Ghadir Golkarian participated in the conference and made a presentation on D-8s and defined D-8 Project as the symbol of deceased Erbakan. “Dr. Necmettin Erbakan mooted the idea of cooperation among major Muslim developing countries through his D 8 Project. It was only after a number of meetings that D-8 was set up officially and began its activities via Istanbul Declaration. Since Turkey and Iran have a very geostrategic location and the world most important straits are within their territories and also being on the historic Silk Road and Trans- Caucasus coordinates, these two countries play a trivet role in regional politics and security and even in ensuring cross-regional balance.
Dr. Derviş Eroğlu, the 3rd President of TRNC, also delivered a speech at the seminar. “We struggled under great difficulties. We believed in each other, we trusted in each other and we resisted. We struggled with a confidence that no earthly force could weaken. “We couldn’t have struggled and resisted if we hadn’t believed that Turkey would come and save us. Turkish Cypriots has an endless trust in Turkish governments and Turkish people” said he.
At the end of the seminar, Dr. Fatih Erbakan, Chairman of Erbakan Foundation, presented a thank you certification and the foundation special plaque to Prof. Dr. Ghadir Golkarian for contributing to the conference with his presentation.
