The General Directorate of Youth and Sports Confederation of Turkey selected NEU as the Educational Institution of the Year among the educational institutions in both Turkey and TRNC.

Based on the results of the surveys conducted with young people and students receiving education at the universities in Turkey and TRNC, the General Directorate of Youth and Sports Confederation of Turkey had selected the Near East University among the educational institutions in both Turkey and TRNC as the Educational Institution of the Year.

According to the press release issued by Turkey Youth and Sports Confederation spokesperson Hakan Özal the Near East University, which is the largest university in TRNC offering quality education since its establishment in 1988, has been selected as the Educational Institution of the Year by taking into consideration the quality in education, social responsibility projects, scholarship opportunities that involve almost 50% of students, comfortable dormitory services, informative seminars and plenary conferences, contributions to sports, arts and culture as well as other similar activities conducted by NEU.

Özal also declared that NEU Rectorate Building would be the venue of the award ceremony. At NEU Rectorate Building, the Educational Institution of the Year Award and the Rector of the Year Award will be presented to the Near East University and NEU Rector Prof. Dr. Umit Hassan who was selected as the Rector of the Year by students and the members of Youth and Sports Confederation of Turkey.
