Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy has established a System to Analyze Essential Oils of Aromatic Plants

The Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GC / MS) system, which is one of the major devices used in the analysis of volatile compounds, has been established within the body of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Near East University.

According to the press release issued by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of the Near East University, the system that established in Pharmacognosy Department Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy will be used to analyze essential oils in aromatic plants belonging to Cyprus flora.

The GC / MS system is capable of analyzing any volatile chemical. Analyzes are concluded qualitatively and quantitatively safely by using commercial and proprietary GC / MS libraries (databases) integrated into the system. The new system is expected to make positive contributions to the university’s research potential.

Studies Conducted by Academic Staff on Aromatic Plants will be investigated….
The studies conducted by the academic staff of the Faculty of Pharmacy within the scope of the project on “Aromatic Plants of North Cyprus Flora” will be analyzed by Agilent 5977B system that obtained by the initiative of Near East University Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit. It is aimed to carry out the analysis of the essential oils of the aromatic plants in the project and provide highly accurate outcomes by the most trusted single-quadrupole GC/MS system.

Under the helm of Prof. Dr. K. Hüsnü Can Başer, the project is carried out by Prof. Dr. Ihsan Çalış, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz, and research assistants consisting of Azmi Hanoğlu, Duygun Hanoğlu, Omar Mustafa Aburwais, and Mhmuod Zughdani.
