Near East University Experimental Animals and Research Centre conducts Research and Projects via Ethical Board Approval

In accordance with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Animal Welfare Law, and also European Standards, Near East University Experimental Animals and Research Centre has brought the “Research Animals Local Ethical Board” to life so as to enable all projects and research to be ethically evaluated.

Near East University Experimental Animals and Research Centre is currently the only institution in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and recently this institution has established an Ethical Board to evaluate all types of research to be conducted so that they are in compliance with national and international rules and regulations with regard to using animals for research. Research and projects which get ethical approval from this board will be able to deal with animals and will be able to condut laboratory research.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, a total of 9 different researches have been completed since the foundation of Experimental Animals and Research Centre. Furthermore, currently there are 2 projects being run by the centre and there are 7 different research projects yet to be realised since they have received their ethical approvals by the Board. It was pointed out that both the completed and yet to be completed research were clinical humane research whose findings will be used for human health and for developing new methods which can be used to achieve effective solutions to diseases.

Providing details on the Near East University Experimental Animals and Research Centre Prof. Dr. Ömer Memduh Esendal, Dean of Faculty of Veterinary of Near East University, expressed that one of the most significant aims of the centre was the reproduction and care of experimental animals in a suitable and healthy way.
