EAK604: Scientific Recording and Writing Techniques
The aim of this course is to describe how to report/write/record scientific research results and to write a publication/article. Furthermore, methods of scientific presentation (oral or poster), research papers, short reports (abstract), letters to the editor, types of research papers, reviews etc. will be introduced.

The purpose of this course is to teach students how to follow current knowledge and topics of analytical chemistry and to present them as a seminar. Another aim is also the introduction of thesis topics and article presentation.

EAK608:Analytical Method Validation
This course provides students with knowledge of identification and evaluation of required parameters for validation of analytical methods, description of analytical methods validation parameters (e.g., accuracy, precision, selectivity, recovery etc.), statistical evaluation and application in drug analysis of these parameters.

EAK609:Basic Operations in Analytical Chemistry
Basic procedures used in analytical chemistry such as gravimetric and volumetric methods with application examples will be taught. Introduction and classification of basic analytical procedures, implementation of gravimetric and volumetric methods with examples will be presented.

EAK610:Separation Techniques
The aim of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge and principles of chromatographic techniques used in pharmaceutical analysis. The course covers the following: An Introduction to Chromatographic Separations, Paper Chromatography, Experiment 1: Separation of Cations Using Paper Chromatography, Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC), Experiment 2: Identification of Caffeine in beverages by TLC, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Experiment 3: Separation and Quantitation of Active Ingredients in Cough Medicine by HPLC, Use of Excel to Optimize Separation Conditions in HPLC, Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC), UPLC versus HPLC in Drug Analysis, Gas Chromatography and Supercritical Chromatography.

EAK613:Introduction to Electrophoretic Separations
This course aims at providing students with a background on the basic principles of electrophoresis, importance and applications in different fields. Thereby, allowing them to follow advances in the field of electrophoretic separations. The following topics will be explained: Instrumentation of CE, separation modes in CE, Micellar Electrokinetic Chromatography (MEKC), applications of MEKC, online preconcentration techniques, sample stacking, field-amplified sample stacking (FASS), field-amplified sample injection (FASI), sample sweeping, derivatization in CE, and applications of CE in pharmaceutical analysis.

EAK614:Advanced Analytical Chemistry
This course covers classical and instrumental analytical techniques. Students will acquire knowledge on gravimetric methods of analysis, titrimetric methods of analysis, aqueous-solution chemistry, theory of Neutralization Titrations, titration curves for complex acid/base systems, precipitation titrimetry, complex-formation titrations, electrochemistry, applications of standard electrode potentials, applications of oxidation/reduction titrations, spectrometric methods, components of optical instruments, atomic absorption and emission spectrometry, ultraviolet/visible molecular absorption spectrometry, infrared spectrometry, chromatographic separations and high-performance liquid chromatography.

EFK605:Basic Instrumentation
This course provides students with a background in modern analysis with an emphasis on instrumentation. Fundamental theoretical principles, capabilities, applications, and limitations of modern analytical instrumentation used for qualitative and quantitative analysis are provided through specific examples and extensive problem solving. The instruments studied include UV-Vis, FTIR, NMR and Mass Spectroscopy.
