Certificate in Teaching English to Adults (CELTA) program is being given at Near East University

This certificate program is a practical English language teaching qualification that gives you the essential knowledge and experience to teach English as a second language. The program will run at Near East University by a group of experts

What is CELTA?
It is an internationally recognised certificate program through which you are equipped with contemporary teaching techniques which qualify you as a teacher of English to speakers of other languages. It is suitable for graduates who have no experience in teaching and/or who have a limited experience and would like to improve their teaching skills while acquiring a world-wide recognised certificate by Cambridge University.

CELTA is a ‘must’ qualification for teachers who are planning to work at different locations around the world and make a living. Furthermore, having a CELTA certificate is also a beneficial qualification with regard to having a positive outcome to job applications. CELTA is the initial certificate program on the path to getting a TEFL; which is the most accredited and required program worldwide.

The CELTA course consists of basic methods which is essential for English teachers.

      The course consists of 120 contact hours between the candidates and course tutors, including:
      – input.
      – tutorial support and consultation.
      – supervised lesson planning.
      – six hours’ assessed teaching practice per candidate supervised by a course tutor.
      – feedback on teaching practice.
      – peer observation of teaching practice.
      – six hours’ directed observation of lessons taught by experienced ELT professionals, up to three hours of which may be of filmed lessons.

      Candidates will need to dedicate a minimum of 120 hours for the required reading, research, pre- and post-session tasks, assignments and lesson preparation.

      Pre-course interviews to be held on the 13th and 27th January, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Near East University.
      The course begins on Saturday the 10th February, 2018 and ends on the 26th May, 2018.
      Input sessions will be on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Due to bank holidays, input sessions will also be held on four Sundays during the course.
      Assignments are written during the period of the course and completed by deadlines.

      The cost of the course is €2,000. A deposit of €500 will be due upon acceptance after the interview process. The outstanding balance is payable in monthly instalments during the course.
