1. What are the Dormitory facilities?

The dorm rooms are furnished to accommodate single, double, triple and four people. There are 3 types of accommodation available; economic dormitories, standard dormitories and luxurious dormitories. There are 6 for female students and 6 for male students. Hot water and central-heating systems, kitchen, study room, canteen, transportation, prepaid phones, TV, mini fridge and internet connection services are available at standard and luxurious dormitories. Central laundry, dryer machines and ironing services, 24 hours security, photocopying services, stationary shop, unisex hairdresser and market are also available.

2. What are the entry and exit dates of dormitories?

A week before the academic year starts you can start to stay at the dormitory and a week after the graduation ceremony (at the latest) the premises have to be vacated (15 September-7 July).

3. Do I pay for the whole term when my application is late?

Full payment is required -to 2 months of late application. After 2 months %10 less is paid.

4. Can I get my money back if I vacate the dormitory?

If you decide to move out of the dormitory no refund is given back. The amount of deposit you have paid will be added or deducted from your school fees. (Except Graduation)

5. Can I choose my room-mate at the time of application?

You can choose your room-mate on condition that you make your application together with the person you wish to share your room. On condition that registration is made online, make your claim to the dormitory managers and they will try to help out.

6. Can I change my room and dormitory building if I don’t get on well with my room mate?

You have to give a statement to dormitory director explaining the circumstances in such situations. Exchange is possible if request for exchange come from both sides who feel discomfortable.

7. Depending on my wish,do I have the chance to change my room into another room in a different class?

If you pay the difference of price and if a room is available you can change your living premises.

8. What do I have do to renew my contract?

From the beginning of May you have to apply to registration office for reservation. In order to register and reserve your place, you have pay a deposit of %25 of the total price. The outstanding balance has to be paid till the end of registration. (If you are late, outstanding balance for the fees is subject to be paid with a fine. If any outstanding balance is left from past years, that has to be paid as well.

9. Is staying at the dormitory compulsory once I have my contract?

Staying out of dormitory or unattending to dormitory without an excuse for 15 days lets contract to be cancelled.

10.What are the coming-in and going-out hours to the dormitory?

Latest time for entrance is at 24:00 p.m.

Going-out time starts at 06:00 a.m.

11. Can I stay at the dormitory during holiday?

In that case you have to bring a written document from the faculty or your department stating that you are continuing to your educational program.

12.Can my mother, father, brother or sister, or a friend stay in my room?

Overnight visitors cannot stay in students’ premises. Your close family members can stay at the guest house by paying the daily price.

13. If I get sick is there a health center to help?

There is a health center which you can attend to during the working hours. Outside the working hours you have to apply to security unit so that they can consign you to Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Government Hospital for medical treatment.

14. Can I get someone to accompany me if I get sick?

It is forbidden to have overnight visitors. If the student is very sick it is recommended that they go home or stay in other premises for medical care.

15.Can I have a pet at the dormitory?

Its not allowed to have pet within the dormitory premises.

16. Can I listen to music in my room or watch TV?

Without disturbing others, you can watch TV and listen to music in your room.

17.Can I hang posters or pictures on the walls, windows or corridor of the dormitory?

With the approval of Head of General Services and Dormitory Department a poster, announcement or poster can be hanged .

18. What are the sanctions if I do not obbey the rules?

Depending on the dorm regulations necessary procedures are carried out.

19. If I am expelled from the dormitory, can I turn back in later terms?

According to dormitory regulations student or tenant who is expelled cannot be accepted to the dorm premises again.

20.What do I need to bring while making entry to the dormitory?

You have to bring your pyjamas, bathrobe, towel, slippers, and kitchen utensils, your pillow, pillowcase, bedsheet and so on.

21. Can I bring a mini fridge to my room?

In standard and luxurious dormitories there is fridge in the tenants’ room. In economical dormitory there is no fridge therefore students is free to bring a mini fridge to the room.

22. Do we clean our room ourselves?

Our cleaners according to time schedul is responsible for room cleaning .

23. Why do we pay a deposit and when do we get it back?

Tenants are responsible from the safety of equipment they are given by the dormitory admissions. When tenants check out they are responsible to hand over the equipment in as good condition as they borrowed them. If a damage or loss is found out the cost of loss or damage is deducted from the deposit. If no damage is given to the equipment the tenant receives the deposit in full.

24. Can I wash and iron my clothes?

There is central launderette nearby, working with tokens that can be obtained for a cheap price, student can wash and iron their clothes at that place.
