In the line with the increase in life expectancy, the population in our country and across the world is gradually ageing. Physical disorders and impairments due to either aging or injuries caused by traffic and/or industrial accidents, pediatric disorders and similar factors increase the demand for physiotherapy and rehabilitation services. In order to prevent medical conditions causing disorder or impairment, and remediate existing physical disorders and impairments and promote functional mobility through examination, diagnosis, prognosis and physical intervention, all physical therapy and rehabilitation services are carried out by a broad team composed of a physician specialized in physical medicine and rehabilitation, a physiotherapist and physiotherapy technicians. Physiotherapy technicians are healthcare professionals working under the supervision of specialist PTR physicians and qualified physiotherapists to assist in the rehabilitation of patients by providing safe, effective and quality services. The number of physiotherapy technicians is not sufficient to meet the increasing demand for physiotherapy and rehabilitation services and there is currently a countrywide shortage for physiotherapy technicians. We aim to make up this shortage by raising well equipped and competent physiotherapy assistants through the well designed Physiotherapy Technician Program under the umbrella of our Health Services Vocational School.
