Dr. Şemsettin CEVHEROĞLU

I was born in 01/01/1956 in Yozgat, Yerköy, where I finished my primary, secondary and high school education. I was qualified to study Pharmacy at Ankara University, Faculty of Pharmacy and continue my education as a cadet. In 1978, I joined Turkish Armed Forces as a lieutenant. Following my internship at GATA, in 1979, I was stationed to Elazığ Military Hospital, as the chief pharmacist. In 1980, I married my wife Architect Emel Cevheroğlu and our son Orkun came into the world in 1981. He earned his BSc and MScdegrees on chemistry at METU and later finished his PhD on Biotechnology at the same university; currently he is pursuing his academic career.

In 1983, I was appointed to Ministry of Defense in Ankara. While on duty, in 1985, I started my MSc studies at GATA, Department of Medical Pharmacology. In 1988, I fulfilled the requirements of the degree. Between 1988-1990, I worked at GATA, Department of Pharmacological Sciences as a specialist. In 1990, I started my PhD on pharmaceutical technology in the same department andearned my PhD in 1994.Between 1994-1996, I worked as a specialist at GATA, Department of Pharmacological Sciences.

In 1996, I was appointed as the commander of Turkish Armed Forces Pharmaceutical Factory, where I worked for 13 years. Throughout my career as the commander of the pharmaceutical factory, we produced pharmaceuticals in various forms, medical supplies and NBC antidotes to supply the needs of the Turkish military. I have attended the military pharmacist members of NATO meetings as a standing member; the Balkan Medicine Congresses as a member. I have attended and organized various scientific meetings and congresses relating my expertise and I have published numerous scientific articles in my field. In 2009, I retired from Turkish Armed Forces. Currently, I reside in Ankara and continuing my career.
