Assist. Prof. Dr. Meryem GÜVENİR

Assistant Prof. Dr. Meryem Güvenir was born in 1986 in Bostancı, in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. She completed her primary education at Kurtuluş Primary School and her secondary education at Güzelyurt Türk Maarif College. During 2003-2007, she pursued her undergraduate degree in Department of Biology of Faculty of Science, Basic and Industrial Microbiology of Ege University. Later in 2010, she achieved her Master’s Degree at the Department of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology of Dokuz Eylul University; where she completed the programme as first rank of the Institute of Health Sciences. Then in 2011, she started to work as a microbiologist at the Biochemistry and Microbiology Laboratory of Near East University Hospital and also started her PhD program at the Department of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology of the Institute of Health Sciences of Near East University. She was then awarded her PhD diploma as ‘Doctor of Science’ in 2015. In 2016, she was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor and since then, she has been working as the Coordinator of the Elderly Care Department and additionally as an Assistant Coordinator of the Common Courses Coordination Office.

Over the years, Assistant Professor Dr. Meryem Güvenir has been awarded certain awards such as the award given by Dokuz Eylül University Graduate School of Health Sciences Institute in 2010; Near East University Scientific Publication Award in 2016; Near East University Young Researcher Award in 2015. She has 19 publications in the Web of Science, a full-text paper, and 8 articles published in Scopus. She has prepared more than 40 posters and oral reports at international and national congresses. She is currently continuing to work in the field of bacteriology and virology.
