Dr. Bahar Kaymakamzade completed her primary education at Lefke İstiklal Elementary School and her secondary and high school education at Güzelyurt Türk Maarif Koleji. She graduated from Trakya University Faculty of Medicine in 2006. In the same year, she started to work as a research assistant at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurology. In collaboration with the University of Ulm in Germany, she studied on cerebrospinal fluid findings and markers of axonal damage in Multiple Sclerosis patients. At Ulm University she trained the brain spinal fluid evaluation course. She returned to the island in 2011 and completed her mandatory service at Lefkoşa Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. She is one the founders of the Cyprus Turkish Neurological Society and currently serving as president of the association. She is the first practitioner who applied thrombolytic therapy fort he first time in the island and continues to work under the roof of the association in order to spread this vital treatment all through the island. In 2013, she passed and earned the title of Fellow of the Eurepean Board of Neurology, which is also the first for the Cyprus. She has been working in our university since 2013 and she became associate professor in 2017. She is the coordinator of continuing medical education at the NEU, Faculty of Medicine. She is a member of European Neurological Society (EFNS), Turkish Neurological Society, Turkish Society of Brain and Vascular Diseases, Cyprus Turkish Neurological Society.
