Research Centre for Applied Linguistics (RCAL) has been establish to conduct research about language, its users and uses, and their interaction with the social, cultural and physical milieus.

RCAL aims to

  • promote the scholarly study of applied linguistics across national and cultural boundaries
  • encourage research and facilitate the exchange of critical ideas that lead to discussion among related fields
  • contribute to current developments related to the study of applied linguistics
  • foster pre-existing interactions between the fields of education, culture, psychology, communication, computer science, anthropology, sociology, semiotics, literature, philosophy and the arts and facilitate new initiatives to this end
  • create an international academic platform for individual and institutional contacts
  • cooperate with other organizations and associations with similar goals and values
  • establish academic collaboration with relevant international centres and departments
  • enhance the provision of language studies throughout the university
  • offer development and research opportunities for students
  • organise conferences to promote and/or showcase new research in the field
  •  host a speaker program featuring internal and external scholars
  • publish a semi-annual journal
  • host visiting academics for collaborative research or contributions to applied Linguistics
  • organize competitions to recognize outstanding work in the field of Applied Linguistics
