The aim of this program is to understand the fundamentaloutput of organizational knowledge. This program is based on four paradigms:the organizational/managerial paradigm, socio technical paradigm, technologicalparadigm and human paradigm. The phenomenon of “knowledge” in any kinds oforganizations has been investigated in relation to the theoretical andpractical perspectives by emphasizing from learning organization to knowingorganizations concepts. Through this program, the students will provideinformation on;

  • Conceptualizingtacit knowledge,
  • Understandingthe importance of intellectual capital,
  • Addingvalue by using knowledge effectively in organizations,
  • Learning thedifferences among data, information, knowledge and wisdom,
  • Creating,sharing, structuring, using and auditing knowledge in the context of “Knowledgemanagement life cycle modal”.

It is mandatory to prepare master thesis in the program.

IKM501 INOVASYON VE BİLGİ YÖNETİMİ KURAMLARI (INNOVATION AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT THEORIES)
Knowledge management discipline will be discussed from the interdisciplinary perspective based on four main approaches: management science, information science, cognitive science and technology science.

IKM 503 RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS
The purpose of this course is to survey the statistical principles of research design for experimental and observational studies, emphasizing (1) the role of statistics in scientific studies, (2) how to determine which statistical test to use, (3) the underlying assumptions associated with statistical tests, (4) how to interpret results from a statistical analysis, and (5) how to properly conduct a scientific investigation. Although the course requires no previous knowledge of statistics, it does require a basic knowledge of algebra.

IKM 502 INNOVATION AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT APPLICATIONS
This course draws a roadmap for applying knowledge management theories within the organizations in the context of project management teaching. Organizational features such as cultural, structural, procedural, and contextual components will be considered by applying knowledge management strategies. Furthermore, some of the best practices on knowledge management cases will be discussed.

IKM5XX ENTELEKTÜEL SERMAYE
This course covers the broad agenda of using intellectual capital for competitive advantage. With globalization, intangible assets such as human capital, intellectual property, brands and relationships have become the dominant proportion of a firm’s market capitalization. Yet most firms do a poor job of managing this intellectual capital strategically. This course adopts a “lifecycle” approach to the management of an intellectual asset, covering the creation of the intellectual asset, the codification of the asset in the form of intellectual property (IP), the valuation of intellectual assets, the protection of intellectual assets and leveraging of intellectual assets into future markets for growth. Case studies examine related management challenges in entertainment, finance, pharmaceuticals, health care, consumer electronics, agribusiness, biotechnology, consulting, venture capital, telecommunications, software and other contexts. Additionally, the social implications of intellectual property policy are discussed.

IKM 5XX INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY
Comprehensive course highlights the articulation between the development of societies, the evolution of science and technologies, and the implementation of a knowledge-based economy. The emphasis is on the central function of higher education in current social transformations as well as the changes resulting from its institutional centrality, especially the creation of academic capitalism.

IKM 5XX ORGANIZATIONAL THEORIES
This course is to help students obtain in-depth understandings of organizations through good comprehension of central theoretical perspectives and paradigms. This course will focus on determinants of an organization’s success, focusing particularly on structure and design issues, as well as external environmental factors that impact organizational structure and functioning. A systems theory approach will be taken, making links to the strategic management, power and control literatures, as well as different forms of organizing (“rational” to “natural” organizing). Finally, the effect of macro-level factors on individual decisions and behaviors, and thus organizational effectiveness, will examined from a multiple levels-of-analysis perspective.

IKM 5XX STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
The class material will include both theory and practical application of Strategic Management (SM) in organizations. SM is the study of H O W firms will
make a statement of vision and mission strategy, o establishes a long term objectives, o generate, evaluate and select strategies, o perform internal/external audit mechanisms to implement managerial and operational strategies, o apply marketing, finance, R&D, MIS policy and, o review and control their strategies
will create leadership strategy.
It is a field of systematic study that focuses on
improving strategy at the four stages: 1)strategic
overview 2) competitive advantage 3)formulating
strategies 4)implementing strategy
At the completion of this course, the student have
studied the major topic areas within the field of SM and
the challenges and opportunities for managers as they
Seek to apply SM principles within organizations.

IKM 5XX INNOVATION MANAGEMENT
The course aims to equip management students with an understanding of the main issues inthe management of innovation and an appreciation of the relevant skills needed to manageinnovation at both strategic and operational levels. It provides evidence of differentapproaches based on real-world examples and experiences of leading organisations fromaround the world.The management of innovation is one of the most important and challenging aspects ofmodern organisation. Innovation is a fundamental driver of competitiveness and it plays alarge part in improving quality of life. Innovation, and particularly technological innovation, isinherently difficult, uncertain and risky, and most new technologies fail to be translated into successful products and services. Given this, it is essential that students understand the strategies, tools and techniques for managing innovation, which often requires a different set of management knowledge and skills from those employed in everyday business administration.

IKM 5XX MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS
The purpose of this course is to provide the fundamentals associated with the management of information technology in a business enterprise. These fundamentals are business concepts in which the influence of information technology has caused change or brought about new concepts. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding the managerial issues that are relevant to usage of computers. The student will be given problems isolating these issues and will be asked to propose solutions with alternatives.

IKM 5XX ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CHANGE
This course aims to explain how organization differs from other planned change efforts, such as technological innovation, training and development, and new product development. The course examines organizational development (OD) assumptions, strategies and models, interventions techniques, and other aspects of OD.
Imagine that you are working in a “diseased organization” and you have been assigned to identify appropriate diagnosis. This course will help you to understand the origins of disorder situations, abnormal events, and inequitable applications, etc. How you can enter the organization and make a contract, can design a new change plan or diagnose / treatment program for the company are some of the important stages for creating new roadmap.

IKM 5XX eGOVERNMENT STUDIES
This course will introduce you to the ways in which internet technologies are affecting how people interact with government, and how governments, in turn, are using and managing these technologies to (hopefully) better provide information and services to the public. Course content is divided into three main themes, and begins with an overview of development techniques and assessment methods for public web sites and on-line applications. We will then examine key policy issues relevant to implementation of e-government programs, as well as to the broader use of information technology in democratic societies. Finally, you will have a chance to explore the skills and concepts needed to effectively manage e-government projects and programs. Given the nature of the class, we use a variety of internet tools to help us accomplish this, including blogs, RSS feeds, and virtual technologies, such as Second Life.

IKM 5XX ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR
Provides an overview of topics and concepts in the field of Organizational Behavior (OB). Emphasis is on developing a theoretical grasp of issues and problems and an understanding of practical implications of various theories of human behavior at work. Specific topics include leadership, motivation, teamwork, career issues, work roles, job enrichment, employee participation, and work and nonwork integration.

IKM 5XX PROJECT MANAGEMENT
This course aims at teaching how a new project could be designed. Preparing a new project, the necessity of structuring a new project, tools and techniques for designing a new project are some of the topics for this course.
