Master education in Biochemistry; The aim of the program is to educate biochemists who has theoretical, practical and up-to-date knowledge in Biochemistry and related disciplines and has the capacity to perform reseach experiments and can evaluate the results obtained. The aim of the master program is to donate the candidates (MSc students) with basic knowledge and skill in biochemistry and prepare them for PhD, reseach, industry, education, health and related areas.

To provide a basic knowledge of biochemistry to postgraduate students of various undergraduate bakground. Students are familiarized with the structures and the functions of the biomolecules that constitute the living cells. The students are also expected to learn the bioenergetic principles and energy metabolism of the cell.

The aim of this course is to learn the metabolic integration through the main metabolic pathways and control mechanisms in the cell. Basic metabolic pathways; photosynthesis, DNA-RNA and protein metabolism.

Students will be able to evaluate and plot the data and design the kinetic models. Collection, storage and process of laboratory data is an important stage for manuscript and project writing and this course is useful for students who has basic statistical knowledge. In this course, spread sheet and other statistical programmes were performed in an interactive way .

The course aims to outline the basic technical and analytical issues in biochemical experiments and to highlight experimental details to be heeded in designing wellcontrolled, reproducible experiments focused on the theme to be investigated. Lecture hours focus mainly on introducing the various issues along with illustrative examples. Hand-out sheets with quantitative and data interpretation type problems serve as homework. Part of the lecture program is allotted to class discussion of such hand-outs.

The aim of PhD program in Biochemistry is to raise human power who is competitive, talented, reliable, self-contained and scientificly honest advanced knowledge, aware of recent findings in biochemistry and can establish and evaluate the structure-function relationship at molecular, cellular, tissue and system level who should be able to plan and perform an original research by himself/herself and should be able to present his/her findings to the universal scientific community.

Protein structure, function and metabolism; structure analysis, purification and characterization methods; proteomic. Students are expected to acquire theoretical knowledge to follow the current publications and run experiments on protein structure, purification, structure-activity relationship, proteomics and structure analysis.

Biochemical bases of genesis, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. To explain the molecular and cellular mechanisms that lead to generation and progression of cancer and propose methods how these may direct cancer diagnosis and treatment, to select and analyse articles dealing with these topics. Genesis of cancer, mechanisms involved in cell survival, senescence and death, genetic alterations that lead to cancer development and progression, molecules which are selected as targets in diagnosis and treatment of cancer, methods used in diagnosis, novel approaches in cancer treatment, effects of cancer drugs and drug resistance mechanisms.

The course covers the mechanisms of biomolecular reactions as reflected in kinetic patterns. The main approach is to present a series of illustrative examples, from simple chemical interconversions to enzymatic systems, pointing out the basic experimental approaches in kinetic investigation and the link between reaction mechanism and kinetic behavior. Lecture hours are dedicated mainly to the sampling of different reaction types. Hand-out sheets with quantitative and data interpretation type problems serve as homework. Part of the lecture program is allotted to class discussion of such hand-outs.

In this course, postgraduate students will get knowledge about the kinetic behaviour of various enzymes. After this course, students are expected to acquire competences to determine the kinetic mechanism of an enzyme catalyzed reaction and calculate its kinetic constants; to develop the kinetic behaviour model of the enzyme from experimental data; and to express the behavioural model in the form of a velocity equation.

This course covers osmometry, electrophoresis, immunometry, oautoanalysers, flow cytometry and quality control methods used in clinical chemistry laboratories. Different enzyme activity measurement methods, protein-ligand binding and enzyme kinetics, both theoretically and practically are learned by students who will then use these knowledge to plan and perform their PhD thesis.
