The Department of Microbiology started its departmental studies within the body of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University in the academic year 2011-2012. The Head of Department, Prof. Dr. K. Serdar DİKER, previously Head of Department of Microbiology of the Faculty of Veterinary of Ankara University, now has been appointed the Head of Department. The Department of Pathology of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University has been founded with the support of the Head of Department, Prof. Dr. K. Serdar DİKER, and other academic staff; Prof. Dr. Müjgan İZGÜR, Prof. Dr. Hakan YARDIMCI, Prof. Dr. Ömer Memduh ESENDAL (Founding Dean of the NEU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine), Prof. Dr. Mehmet AKAN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Barış SAREYYÜPOĞLU and Research Assistants.

The Department of Microbiology provides detailed information on: Ethology in infectious diseases, Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, Symptomatology, Antimicrobial Resistance, Treatment and Protection Methods from diseases.

As part of its undergraduate program, the Department of Microbiology facilitates the following theoretical and practical modules: Microbiology I, Microbiology II, Epidemiology, Immunology, Winged Animal Diseases and Mycology.
