Department of Food Hygiene and Technology which began the lecturing activity in the academic year of 2012-2013, was established with the contributions of Prof. Dr. Belgin SARIMEHMETOĞLU (Head of Department), Prof. Dr. Tarık Haluk ÇELİK, Prof. Dr. Özlem KÜPLÜLÜ, Prof. Dr. Haydar ÖZDEMİR, Prof. Dr. Ufuk Tansel ŞİRELİ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muammer GÖNCÜOĞLU ve Assoc. Prof. Dr Fatma Seda BİLİR ORMANCI who are assigned from the Department of Food Hygiene and Technology, Faculty of Veterinary of Ankara University, under the Faculty of Veterinary of the Near East University.

The Department of Food Hygiene and Technology, Faculty of Veterinary of the Near East University plays an important role on the production of the animal nutrition which holds a significant place when delivering to the consumers in a quality and safe way from the production stage to kitchen stage.

The main aims of the Department of the Food Hygiene and Technology is to raise confident and well informed veterinarians after the graduation who are able to solve the problems within the scope of scientific developments. The department also tries to focus on the subjects such as food hygiene mainly based on animal nutrition, meat hygiene and its examination, meat science and its technology, milk hygiene, milk science and its technology, food chemistry in terms of the courses of the veterinary public health.

The Department of the Food Hygiene and Technology provides the undergraduate courses such as Meat Hygiene, its Examination and Technology, Milk Hygiene and Technology, Public Health in Veterinary Medicine, Sanitation on Food Establishments and Fermented Meat and Dairy Products.
