She was born in Antalya, Turkey in 1974. She started her undergraduate study in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Istanbul University in 1991 and graduated in 1996. Upon graduation she started to work as a Veterinary Surgeon in a private Veterinary Clinic in Istanbul. Then, she worked as a food hygiene&safety auditor in an international grocery store chain in Istanbul. Concurrently she also started to study her PhD degree in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Istanbul University in 1997 and was assigned to a Research Assistant position in 1999. She completed her PhD degree on canine mammary tumors and cytopathology in 2004 and resigned from Istanbul University.

After having resigned, she worked as a regulatory affairs specialist in a private pharmaceutical company for one and half years in Istanbul. Then she restarted to work as a Research Assistant in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Istanbul University in 2006. She went to the Oncology and Pathology Department, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden as a guest researcher in 2006. She gained experience on molecular therapeutics and the detection techniques for apoptosis on mammary cell lines. Meanwhile, she practiced some laboratory techniques such as cell culturing, western blotting, ELISA and Flow Cytometry, as well in Karolinska Institute. She attended advanced training courses on Real-time PCR, cell culturing and blocking and immunocytochemistry, hosted by Turkish national institute of scientific researches, TUBITAK in the same year.

She was assigned as an Associate Professor in 2015. From 1999 till now, more than 25 articles have been published, in which she was the first author or a co-author. Moreover, she conducted 3 research projects as an executive researcher and participated in ten more projects as a co-researcher.

She is still working as Associate Professor at the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Istanbul University. She is a member of Veterinary Pathology Society of Turkey. She speaks and writes English. As her spare-time activities she plays the flute and has been engaged in musical practice in several bands for amateurs.
