Dr. Howells was born in 1963, in Sleaford, UK and grew up in Wales.

Completing a BSc (Hons) in Computing from Manchester in 1986, Dr Howells gained professional status as a chartered computer engineer in the UK and Europe. For 12 years she worked as a software engineer, culmunating in director of her own consultancy business (Fast Record Ltd.), working with prestigious organisations.

After teaching at Maramara University in Istanbul, Dr. Howells moved to an academic career, completing an MBA in Technology Management [2000] with Deakin Universtity, Melbourne, and a doctorate in entrepreneurship [2015] with Charles Sturt University, Bathurst, Australia. From 1994 until 2014, Dr. Howells was a senior lecturer at the European University of Lefke, establishing both the Department of Computer Information Systems and Department of Management Information Systems.

In September 2016 she was appointed as lecturer in the Department of Marketing, in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Near East University. She was also appointed Programme Coordinator for PhD Business Administration online.

Dr. Howells is currently a reviewer for Journal of Gender Studies (SCCI), the International Journal of Gender & Entrepreneurship, and KADIN/WOMAN 2000. She has served as a committee member and session chair on a number of international conferences.

Dr. Howells is also an honorary lecturer with the University of Liverpool (UK). She is also an International Alumni Ambassador for Manchester Metropolitan University.

Dr. Howells speaks English, Turkish, and some Welsh.
