Bilge Azgın did his bachelor degree at the Louisiana State University where he majored in History and minored in Philosophy and Political Science. Then he did his master degree in Political Science at the Portland State University between 2003 and 2005 as a Fulbright Scholar. Throughout his education, he took an active role in political issues and wrote articles in various newspapers.

Bilge Azgın pursued his academic career at the University of Manchester. During his PhD dissertation, he specialized in democratization theories and wrote his dissertation on the uneasy democratization process in Turkey during the post-Helsinki period (1999-2009). While scrutinizing the problems of democratization in Turkey during the EU Accession process, his PhD dissertation critically sought to link Turkey’s democratization problems with the wider comparative theoretical literature on democratization, secularism, populism and post-Islamism.

He also took an active role in politics between 2013 and 2015. From 2015 onwards, Bilge Azgın has become increasingly interested in subjects such as transformative education, political reconciliation, political psychology, comparative mysticism, transpersonal psychology, personal development and psycho-spritual transformation as they led him to self experiential research and introspection.

Bilge Azgın has been teaching at the Near Eastern University since 2013 as he delivered lectures on various subjects such as Democratization, Turkish Politics, Political Sociology, Political Psychology, Political Reconciliation, Nonviolent Communication, and World Religions etc.
