I am graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, in 1970. Completed my Ph.D dissertation in pharmacology in 1973, Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine. Postgraduate work in USA 1973-1976, State University of New York at Buffalo, Faculty of Medicine, department of Pharmacology and University of Maryland, Baltimore, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology. Then I joined Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology as an instructor. I introduced electrophysiological recording and stimulation techniques by using glass microelectrodes in Turkey, first time after I returned from the USA. Worked as an instructor, associate professor, professor and chairman until 2012. Appointed as the chairman of Institutional Review Board of Hacettepe University for 10 years. Then I joined NEU Faculty of medicine in 2012 as the chairman of Department of Medical Pharmacology. I am also the chairman of Institutional Review Board of NEU since 2010. As a research scientist I am primarily interested on the effects of certain drugs or toxic substances on the electrophysiological parameters on skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle and the brain. I applied intracellular recording and stimulation techniques, as well as recording contractile responses for these studies. Also the effects of some disease models, such as crush syndrome, endotoxemia, heart failure, ischemia-reperfusion, stress, immobilization, epilepsy and epileptogenesis are investigated on different experimental animals and/or organ systems are my main topics of research interest.
