Born on 10th of December 1966 in Nicosia Cyprus, he completed his elementary secondary and high school training in Nicosia. He attended his medical training at Hacettepe University Medical Faculty between 1984 and 1990 in Ankara Turkey. He entered the postgraduate training program of General Surgery in Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital (ANTRH). He completed his residency between 1991 and 1995 under the supervision of Nusret Aras, MD, Associate Professor of General Surgery and Atila Korkmaz MD, Associate Professor of General Surgery and gained his “Specialist of General Surgery” degree.
Upon the completion of his postgraduate training, he joined the training team of ANTRH Department of 6th Surgery and worked there as a Staff Surgeon till 2003. During these years he went to London Ontario Canada in 1996 and worked with the liver transplant team as a visiting Clinical Fellow for a six months period. In 1997 he went to United Arab Emirates and successfully completed the license examination of the Ministry of Health UAE. In 2002, he was one of the five Turkish doctors from different specialties to visit Baghdad for the Iraqi Turkish Medical Week with the then Minister of Health of Turkey, and gave conferences about different subjects in the Medical School of Baghdad. In 2003 upon the completion of the requirements of Inter Universities Board of Turkey, he was successfully completed the examination held in Istanbul University Istanbul Medical School and gained the degree of “Associate Professor of General Surgery” on 12th of March 2003.
The same year he completed his obligatory short term military service in Cyprus and continued to work in the ANTRH as an Associate Professor of General Surgery till 2006. In 2006 he returned to his native country Cyprus and took a work under the Ministry of Health Of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). He served in different hospitals as an Associate Professor of General Surgery and upon the nomination of the Ministry of Health TRNC, he served in the group of Tissues and Cells under the supervision of European Union for the drafting of an umbrella law regarding the assisted reproduction and organ transplantation.
He visited the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) of United Kingdom and got training about the inspection processes of centers in London and Manchester. Upon the completion of the Near East University (NEU) Hospital, he moved to the Near East University to establish the General Surgery Department. He has got the degree of “Professor of General Surgery” on 14th March 2011 and is working in Department of General Surgery NEU. He is the member of Ethics Committee of Near East Medical School. During his entire medical and surgical career, he wrote many articles in national or international medical magazines and had many congress presentations.
He served a course trainer and congress secretary in some congresses. Since 2006 he is the “secretary of publications” of Turkish Journal of Surgery which has been published since 1985 and is the official media organ of Turkish Surgery Association. He is married with two chidren.
