Lecturer Nezihe TEKMAN

Nezihe Tekman became a member of the Faculty of Law, International Law Department at the University in February 2017. She currently teaches Private International Law and has previously taught in Cyprus and in different institutions in the United Kingdom. She holds an LL.M degree from the University of Bristol (UK) in Commercial Law with the thesis of the notion of the consumer under European Contract Law.

Nezihe is a qualified lawyer and got appointed to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Bar Association in 2011.
Nezihe is currently in the process of completing her Doctoral Research (Ph.D.) at the University of Hull in United Kingdom supervised by world renowned leading scholar Prof. Christian Twigg-Flesner within the field of European Consumer Law focusing on consumer vulnerabilities in the European Union. Her research covers multi-disciplinary spanning from International to European Consumer Law and she is a fellow of the International Association of Consumer Law (IACL).

She is also affiliated to and holds Advanced Research Certificates from legal research networks of LexisNexis and Westlaw UK.

She has presented her research across Europe (the Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom) and has been invited to present her research in Brazil in the International Association of Consumer Law that is held every two years in different continents and she has also been invited publish in Brazilian Consumer Law Journal under the database of Thomson Reuters. Nezihe is particularly interested in collaborating her academic research and social environment in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. She holds multiple qualifications including ‘University Teaching for Postgraduate Researchers Programme’ in 2014 enabling her to combine theory and practice in higher education along with technology led teaching,
