İzlem Haktanır was born on 24th May, 1991 in Nicosia. She graduated with a BA in Fisheries Engineering from Ege University,İzmir-Turkey in 2013. Following, she completed an MSc degree on Food Safety, Hygiene and Management at the University of Birmingham, England with first class honours.
Currently she works at the Ministry of Agriculture of Cyprus on animal disease eradication project funded by the EU. In this project, she works as a senior laboratory technician. In addition to this project, she works as a part-time teaching fellow in the Food Engineering Department of the Near East University.
