Dr. Aysal Adun is food scientist and holds a PhD degree with 19 years experience at the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEA) and 13 years at the international level, mainly IAEA. She has started her career at TAEA as a researcher in the field of food irradiation, and then continued with the use of nuclear techniques in the field of food and environmental safety. During her career at the TAEA she has got very wide perspective about the applications of nuclear technologies especially in agriculture, food and environmental safety.

In 2003, she joined the International Atomic Energy Agency-Seibersdorf Laboratories, Food and Environmental Protection Section as analytical chemist. She has been assisting in research, service, training and administrative activities of the Agrochemicals Unit; performing research and analysis of agrochemicals based on the principles of analytical quality assurance, using radio tracer and related analytical techniques; training fellows and staff on above mentioned techniques and procedures; maintaining analytical instruments; delivering lectures in training workshops and conferences and preparing publications to enhance IAEA Member States capabilities for implementing good agricultural and manufacturing practices to reduce food safety hazards and protect the environment.

She has been working at the Near East University, Food Engineering Department as teaching staff since 2016.
