Zeliha Khashman received her Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in international relations from University of Nottingham, in 1992 and Leicester University UK in1997, respectively, and her B.A degree in international relations from METU, Turkey in 1991 with honors. During 1998-2005 she was an Assistant Professor in international relations department of Near East University. She has been appointed as the Head of International Relations Department in 2002 at Near East University. In 2005, she has been awarded the Associate Professorship by the university.
Her current research interests include ethnic conflicts, conflict resolution, peacebuilding and Cyprus Conflict. Khashman has published on Cyprus conflict in journals and attended conferences.
She has contributed in developing exchange programmes for international relations students with universities in Europe and USA. She has also contributed extensively in the organization of conferences and seminars in the university.
In May 2010 she has been appointed as one of the members of the Consultative Committee of the TRNC President Dr.Dervish Eroglu.
She is married with two children.
