Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin ÖZDESER

He was born in Famagusta in May 1968. His father was police commander and his mother was a housewife. He has completed primary school at Canbulat Primary School and high school at Namık Kemal High School where both take place in Mağusa. He received his Bachelor and Master degree in Business Administration at Eastern Mediterranean University in 1993.In 2000 October, he completed his PhD degree in Political Economics at Marmara University. He has written his PhD thesis about “European Monetary Union and Its Possible Impacts on EU and Turkish Economy”. He has joined to many conferences in TRNC and also in Turkey which were organized about the economic problems and also Turkey EU Relations and TRNC EU Relations. He established EU Study Group with some of his expert friends about EU, aiming to work about informing people about European Union. Also he joined to the meetings for a certain time at the Prime Ministry for the publication of a journal aiming to give knowledge and information to the public about different topics of the EU. In 2002 he was invited to USA due to a visiting program where he joined so many study meetings about economics and politics which were organized in public institutions in different cities of USA with academicians from different universities of USA and also from different universities of the world; also people who are specialized in their studying areas. He is the founding chairperson of the EU Relations Department at Near East University.

In 1993 he started to work at Near East University as a part-time lecturer until 1999 and then he became a full-time lecturer. He has been working at Near East University as a lecturer for 22 years.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Özdeşer is still the chairperson of Economics Department and He is married and father of one child.
