The Department of Restorative Dentistry was established in 2007-2008 academic year with 1 professor, 1 specialist and 2 researchers.
The Department of Restorative Dentistry mainly focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and the prognosis of tooth decay. As the developmental malformation and acquired diseases are the basic reasons of structural teeth deformation, the department carries out services on teeth function and aesthetic, teeth reformation and teeth restoration. To prevent the reformation of pathogenesis is also an important factor for dental health.
The Operative and restorative dentistry, dental caries (cariology), preventive dentistry and a scientific innovation called “gerodontology” for the treatment of specific dental problems due to the senescence are carried out at the Department of Restorative Dentistry.
The main field of the Department of Restorative Dentistry is focusing on operative and restorative dentistry. Particularly, in recent years, new terms like “bonding, aesthetics and cosmetic dentistry” related to the Department of Restorative Dentistry.
There are high-tech devices like LED (Light-emitting diode), LCD monitors, intraoral camera systems, direct digital radiography and ozone units at the Department of Restorative Dentistry. The students receive the practical and theoretical courses on Restorative Dentistry in semester 3, 4, 5 and 6.at the department. The clinical training programs are carried out for the students in semesters 7, 8, 9 and 10.
The mission of The Department of Restorative Dentistry is to promote the education, the treatment of the patients and the research in accordance with the academic purposes of the Institution. Our priorities are training students to be successful in preclinical applications, to receive high quality didactic and clinical education under the discipline of contemporary and conservative dentistry and also providing dentistry students with opportunities to receive education after the graduation to keep them up-to-date with the latest developments in their own fields. Besides, we, as a department of Restorative Dentistry, intend to minimize the dental diseases of people of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Our vision is to offer contemporary dental education based on tooth diases and the treatment, to launch scientific research projects and also support our citizens in the fields of education and clinical services.
