Lecturer Tamer GARİP

Tamer Garip has written and directed 2 feauture films (Code Name Venus [2012] and Dr.Dilara [2016] which l premiered at Cannes Film Festivals.

Tamer has written his 3rd feature film “The Colour of Betrayal is Red” which will go into production in March 2019.

His first feauture film , Codename Venus (Kod Adi Venus)was shown at Cinemas in Turkey ,UK and North Cyprus in 2013.Dr.Dilara has been shown at cinemas in North Cyprus in 2016.

Tamer graduated from Brighton University with a BA Hons in Business Studies degree and he studied at Panico Film School in London UK (later merged with London Film Academy).He started a Masters course in Film Studies in Westminster University,London but dropped out after 6 months. In 1991, He was declared as the Pioneer of Interactive Advertising while working on TV ads for Saatchi & Saatchi, BMP, TBWA on accounts such as Levis 501 , Nissan,BA and many other blue chip companies in London.

In 1996,He won the best CD-ROM producer award and produced Future Vision Exhibition at Manchester for Barclays Bank Plc.

He also produced the first e-commerce internet banking for (Transpay) Barclays Bank Plc .

In 1999, he won the Most Innovative Technology Award and The 2nd Best Design Agency Award by Yell Awards of UK,presented by Jonathan Ross.

In 2001,he was elected as one of the most influential people in the internet industry and selected as one of the top 12 internet designers of UK by The Internet Magazine.

With the assistance of BBC and Sky TV, he set up the School of Creative Technologies in London and taught film making techniques to over 100 students in London during 2002-2004.

He was appointed as the CEO of Levent Group of Companies (one of the largest companies in North cyprus and also he was the Trustee of Cyprus International University from 2006 until 2011.During this time he transformed Levent Group and the Cyprus International University into one of the fastest growing organisations.

He produced and directed 3 very popular TV shows and presented and edited a Conference proceedings called ‘Think of a Country That..’in 2007.

Jasmine’s (Jolie Myatt) parents came to Cyprus from England for a top secret archeological duty and at that time Jasmine was born in Cyprus in 1930.

Suffering from mysterious loss of her parents, Jasmine was sent back to England in 1937 to her aunt, where she would study at a boarding school.

She fell in love with Charles (Jonny Lee Kemp) whom she met while she was studying at the Cambridge University. Charles was a secret service agent working for MI5 (British Secret Service), and promised Jasmine to help her find out her parents, however, in return Jasmine had to infiltrate EOKA (Greek underground militia group) and obtain information for Charles

Jasmine returned to Cyprus in 1956 for this purpose and made Adamos (Cengiz Bozkurt), one of the leaders of EOKA, fall in love with her, and participated in some terrorist actions with him.

However, she sorrowed much from the bloody clashes between two communities in 1963. She fell in love with Kemal (Serhat Harman), the Turkish Cypriot teacher who was her childhood friend. Kemal is a top member of TMT (Turkish Resistance Movement).
Jasmine witnessed the pains and sorrows of both communities and the tension on the island raised up with the coup d’etat of fascist Greeks in 1974.

Dr. Dilara 2016

Dr. Dilara is a tragedy and a thriller.

Its a film about the struggle of Dilara ( a widower and a single mother),who decides to return to Cyprus with her 4 year-old-daughter from Italy after her husband commits suicide. Dr. Dilara when in Cyprus continues her deceased husbands work in Cyprus finds herself being threatened and her daughter kidnapped. Her determination to find out the truth about her husbands unexpected suicide and rescuing her daughter leads her to the mass graves in Cyprus.

The Colour of Betrayal is Red (2019)

Tamer Garip,is writing his 3rd film called The Colour of Betrayal is Red , which production is expected to start on 15th March 2019.
