Prof. Ünlen DEMİRALP

He was born in 1940, in Çal county of Denizli. His father was a medical doctor and his mother was a housewife. He completed elementary school in Kozan, graduated from TED Ankara College in 1960. Following that, he graduated from the Department of English Language & Literature of L.H.G.F Ankara University in 1970.

In 1963, he started to work as a program maker at Ankara Radio. He had training on television production and supervision in Germany (1965 and 1966) and in England (1964). In 1966, he was assigned to Ankara Television. He worked as an administrator at various levels between the years of 1968-1982. Besides his administrative assignments, he realized TV plays and documentaries as a producer and director. He represented TRT at many international conventions and was a member of the jury at many events.

In 1982, he had an assignment at Anatolian University where he contributed to the start of Open Education Faculty and began his scholarly career there. From Anatolian University, he had masters’ degree in communication sciences and from Marmara University he had certificate of proficiency in Cinema, Television and Photographical Arts Major.

His assignment at Faculty of Communication of Gazi University started in 1987. There he received his academic titles and retired in 2006.

During his postgraduate studies at Anatolian and Gazi Universities, he directed documentaries and commercials.

Between 1989 and 1993, with university’s consent, he had a post at Ankara Television as a program manger. He worked at TRNC Girne American University between 1997-1998 and at Eastern Mediterranean University, between 1999 and 2000.

He was a member of the Grand Jury at 37th Antalya Film Festival, 2000.
Since 2005, he has been working at Near East University.

Professor Ünlen H. DEMİRALP is married and father of two children.
