He was born in Konya-Ilgın on 9th of June 1952. His father was a primary school teacher and his mother was a housewife.

He had completed his Primary School education in Gecit Koyu Ilkokulu. From 1963 to 1966 he had followed and completed his Secondary School education in his hometown Ilgın. In 1969, he had completed his High School education with the highest score in Arts.

He had obtained his Bachelor degree in Sociology with High Honor ( first ranged student) from Hacettepe University in Ankara. In 1974, he had been granted a scholarship to France from Turkish Republic Ministry of National Education for post-graduate education.

In 1979, he had his master degree on “Research Methods in Social Sciences” at Tours University in France.
In 1981, he had his PhD. degree on “Turkish Workers in France” at Caen University in France.
He had fulfilled his military service in 1981 at Manisa / Kırkagac.

In 5th of November 1981, he had been recruited as an assistant Dr. at Karadeniz Technical University in Trabzon.
In 1983, he received the academic title of assistant professor in study of General Sociology. In 1992, he had his associated professorship title and finally he had received the title of professor of Sociology in 1998.

Throughout his professional life, he had taught and taken duties in various administrative and management positions in Karadeniz Technical University. (Such as director of Graduate School of Social Sciences, vice-Dean and Head of Department) He is the author of three course books in Sociology, published in 1990 and 1999. He had many articles published; most of them in citation indexes reviews.

He had been supervisor of many master and PhD. Thesis. He took part in many academic Juries as a member. From 1994 to 1997 he was the vice-Dean of Art and Literature Faculty at Near East University in Nicosia. He is the Dean of Faculty of Communication at Near East University. He is married and he had a son and a daughter.
