Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering

The First Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was established under the body of Near East University upon receiving the approval of the respective organizations and institutions.

The Department of Civil Engineering began its educational life by offering undergraduate education in English in the academic year of 1992-1993. Civil engineering education has also been offered in Turkish since March 25, 2013.

1287 students from 33 different countries currently (as of the academic year 2017-2018) receive undergraduate education that offered either in English or Turkish. Besides, a total of 126 students receive graduate education in pursuit of their career demands. 17 of these students continue to receive master’s degree programs while 109 of them receiving doctorate degree programs.

Following the completion of all preparations and approval procedures for the Department of Environmental Engineering in English in the academic year of 2017-2018, this department will be able to offer education in the coming academic year.

These three departments, which have carried out their educational activities under the umbrella of the Faculty of Engineering so far, will carry out their educational activities as the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering starting from the academic year 2018-2019.

As of April 30, 2018, Near East University attained a new faculty; Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering has been brought into being as the 17th faculty of Near East University.
