Born on the 1st of March 1966 in Nicosia Cyprus. Graduated from Lefkoşa Türk Lisesi (high school) in 1984. Then got a bachelors degree in 1988 from Faculty of Engineering; Department of Civil Engineering, Uludağ Üniversity in Balıkesir. Founded Akcan Architectural and Engineering bureau in 1990. Was a member in Chamber of engineers’ Board of Directors, between the years of 1994-1996. Has been a lecturer in Near East University since 1996. Between the years of 1991-1997 worked as a Project engineer, for Korman Const. Ltd and as a project manager for Mustafa Hacı Ali Şti.Ltd. Akcan was assigned as an accountant for Chamber of engineers’ Board of Directors between 1997-1998. Having presented announcements in both the 2002 ‘Nicosia Symposium’ and ‘17 August earthquake week’ in 2008, Akcan has also taken place as an educator in professional courses and seminars. Akcan is still continuing as a lecturer at Near East University and as the president of Chamber of Engineers’ Board of Directors.
Is married and has two children.
