Assist. Prof. Dr. Turgay Salihoğlu was born in Pelathousa (Karaağaç) village in Phaphos, on 6th June 1959. After he finished Kumsal Primary School, he went to Hüseyin Ruso for the secondary school. He compleeted his high school education in Turkish Lycee, Nicosia. In 1984, Salihoğlu graduated from Gazi University from Engineering and Architecture Faculty as an architect.
He worked in a private office as well as his own Office and due to academic interest, in 1992, T.Salihığlu joined Near East University’ Architecture and Engineering Office. At the same time he served as a teaching assistant in the Faculty of Architecture. Meanwhile he completed his MA. His thesis was based on a research dealing with the climatization of Messaria houses untill the end of the Second World War.
His further studies ended up with s model proposal fort he rural areas housing in semi-arid regions. He presented this study as a PhD thesis and he was awarded with the degree in 2002.
After having PhD promoted to assosiated professor in 2004. His scientific progress resulted in participation to five different national congress and six international congress and all his presentations has been published in proceedings.
Dr.Salihoğlu updated and compiled his MA and PhD studies in a book entitled “Housing in Cyprus Island” in 2006.
His recent researh topic is “The Study of the Physical Constraction Measurements of the Traditonal Housing in Cyprus”. This study has been sponsered by the Ministry of Education of TRNC. The project’s results are reported in a scientific paper which hopefully will be published soon.
Regularly he teaches two courses In the Department of Architecture and three courses in the Department of Interior Desing. The courses are Legal as of Planning, Housing in Rural Area, Building Materials and Compenents of Interior Design, Detaying Studio and Product Detaying.
