With the support of Bill Gates Foundation, the launching of ‘Library for All’ project was held in Antalya. The project aims a more active role for local government libraries in social transformation.
Hacettepe University, Hacettepe Technology Transfer Center, Turkish Librarians’ Association and Near East University carry out the project that financed by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
According to the press info released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel, Chairman of NEU Board of Trustees, and Tümer Garip, Director of NEU Grand Library, were present at the launching of ‘Library for All’ as the partner of the project.
The launching program attracted intense interest of participants and media
More than 200 participants including representatives of member libraries, municipalities, project stakeholders, media and invitees attended the launching meeting.

Addressing to the press members after the meeting, NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel underlined the importance of the launching meeting in introducing the project to member libraries and media. “We feel the great honor and happiness of being selected as a partner for such a significant project. We provide system support to the project by means of our Innovation Center and Super Computer and we ensure the sustainability of the project. The project will be an important milestone in changing and enhancing the life standard of the society. It’s also exciting for us to be a contributor to such a project that aims the wellbeing of mankind”.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Küçük: “Thanks a lot to the Near East University for contributing to the project”
Delivering a speech at the launching ceremony of ‘Library for All’, the project Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Küçük touched upon the crucial role of Near East University in conducting the project. “Near East University Innovation Center will ensure the sustainability of the project. The Super Computer of Near East University will continue to provide all backup and system support for three years following the completion of the project in 2018. I would like to take this opportunity and extend our appreciations to NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel and Vice Founding Rector Tümer Garip” said he.
Following the speeches, a ‘thank you plaque’ was presented to NEU Board of Trustees Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel in recognition of NEU’s contribution to the project.
