YDÜ'nün Komite Başkanlığı'nı Yaptığı Science Direct ve Scopus Kapsamındaki Fuzzy Logic ve Soft Computing Uluslararası Konferansı Viyana'da Başladı

International Conference on application of Fuzzy Systems and Soft Computing of which organizing committee chaired by Near East University has begun in Vienna within the scope of Science Direct and Scopus

The International Conference on Application of Fuzzy Systems and Soft Computing, ICAFS-2016, is being held in Vienna between 29-30 August 2016 with participation of over 100 scientist from universities in Japan, the USA, Germany, Russia, Poland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Austria, Azerbaijan, Canada, the Czech Republic, Italy, Finland, France, Georgia, Uzbekistan, China, India, Mexico, Latvia, Romania, and TRNC. According to a press statement released by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Prof. Dr. Fahreddin SADIKOĞLU, Vice Rector of NEU and Chairman of Organizing Committee of the ICAFS-2016, pointed out that all the accepted papers would be published in the Elsevier’s Procedia Computer Science Open access Journal indexed in Scopus and Science Direct, a highly recognized platform, where conference papers can be hosted and accessed by millions of researchers. Prof. Dr. SADIKOĞLU added that selected papers would be considered for possible publication in SCI journals such as Information Sciences journal, the Soft Computing Journal, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine journal, and International Journal of Intelligent Automation and Soft Computing. Almost hundred scientists from universities in Asia, Europe and America are participating in ICAFS 2016….. The Conference is being realized with the participation of almost 100 scientists from the universities and associations from 24 different countries situated in Asia, Europe and America continents. Alongside Near East University from TRNC, University of Toronto and University of Alberta from Canada, Georgia State University and University of Texas from the USA, University of Siegen from Germany, TOBB Economics and Technology University from Turkey, BISC-Berkeley Initiative in Soft Computing Association from the USA, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University and Association of Zadeh’s Legacy and Artificial Intelligence from Azerbaijan are taking part in the Organizing Committee of ICAFS 2016. Prof. Dr. SADIKOĞLU: World of science is taking another gigantic step with this international conference…… In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. SADIKOĞLU extended his appreciations to the participants by underlining that the sessions would focus on the application of methods concerning Fuzzy Logic and Soft Computing in earth sciences, Soft Computing in industrial engineering, Decision Theory with Imperfect Information, Neuro-Fuzzy Technology, Soft Computing in finance, business and economics and educational sciences, Soft Computing in medicine and biomedical engineering, Fuzzy and Soft Computing Based Control Systems, Soft Computing for System of Systems Engineering, Granular Computing, Evolutionary Computation and other technologies relevant to the applications of Fuzzy and Soft Computing. Stating that world’s leading scientists were taking part in the Program Committee and Organizing Committee of ICAFS 2016, he drew attention to the crucial role of conference in contributing to the world of science. Following the opening remarks of Prof. Dr. SADIKOĞLU, the participants attended to the sessions to make their presentations.

Academics from Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine participated in the project on ‘Conserve and Love Honey’

The academics of Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine participated in the program on ‘Regional Beekeeping Trainings” that organized by North Cyprus Beekeepers Association within the frame of the project themed on ‘Conserve and Love Honey’. According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilek Arsoy from NEU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine delivered a lecture and provided the beekeepers with training on ‘Beekeeping Sector, Biodiversity and Breeding Approaches’. During the training program, 260 Beekeepers were provided information about everything relevant to beekeeping During the program that conducted by native and foreign instructors in five regions including Nicosia, Güzelyurt, Kyrenia, Famagusta and Iskele, beekeepers were provided with detailed information on conservation of native bee-races, processing and storing of honey, European Commission honey analysis results, beekeeping record system applications, honey chambers and hygiene standards, modern beekeeping techniques, and bee diseases. A total of 260 beekeepers from five regions participated in the training program that conducted within the frame of European Union Civil Society Dialogue.

Near East Angels made their mark at the 2016 Rio Olympics

Six athletes from the Near East University Women’s Basketball Team played at their national basketball teams and successfully represented their countries at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, members of the Near East University Women’s Basketball team Şebnem Kimyacıoğlu, Olcay Çakır, Bahar Çağlar, Yelena Leunchanka, Nevena Jovanovic and Ana Dabovic played at their national basketball teams and successfully represented their countries at the 2016 Rio Olympic games. Transferred to NEU Women’s Basketball Team the preceding year, Ana Dabovic played at the national basketball team of Syrbia alongside Nevena Jovanovic, who was transferred to NEU this current year, both displayed an outstanding performance, contributing to the team’s success in winning the bronze medal at the Olympics; becoming the second runner up in the women’s basketball games.

Trainees that participated in Near East University Turkish Summer School program received their certificate

Upon the completion of A1 Beginner level Turkish language course for foreigners, the participants received their certificates. The course was organized for Academic Year 2015-2016 Summer Term by Near East Lifelong Learning Center and Turkish Preparatory School under the body of NEU Faculty of Arts and Sciences. According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, the short-term course that lasted 4 weeks and 60 hours in total, 15 hrs per week, was carried out by NEU Faculty of Arts and Sciences lecturers including Asst. Prof. Dr. Burat Gökbulut and Turkish Preparatory School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Karabacak.

NEU Faculty of Architecture has been represented at the 17th IPHS Conference in Netherlands

Near East University Faculty of Architecture has been represented at the 17th IPHS (International Planning History Society), Delft, Netherlands. The conference was realised un Delft Technology University on 17-21 July, 2016, to which 460 city planners, architects, historians, sociologists, academicians and researchers from all over the world attended. Contemporary research and experiences were shared and future cooperation was discussed. According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, Academic Member of Faculty of Architecture of Near East University; Assist. Prof. Dr. Huriye GÜRDALLI was the only Turkish Cypriot to attend the conference in Netherlands.

Hospital of Near East University Applies Radiofrequency Ablation As Surgical Method To Destroy Liver Tumors By Incineration

The First Percutaneous Liver Cancer Treatment Held Near East University Hospital Radiofrequency Ablation Treatment Method first time in TRNC applied to Haluk Mevlut ÖNDER who diagnosed with iver cancer suffering from three masses of which the largest was 3,5 cm at his liver and tumors were destroyed by incineration with radiofrequency, a method started to be used frequently in the world recently. Liver Tumor Treatment In Three Days According to a press statement released by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, Haluk Mevlüt ÖNDER was diagnosed with liver cancer and as the chemothreapy treatment was found to be risky, the radiofrequency ablation treatment method which is now frequently used in the world, applied to the patient. The tumors were treated one by one with the ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation device and all the masses were destroyed within a very short while lasting only 45 minute. The patient taking preventive treatment inlcuding antibiotic therapy and pain killers, did not come up with any complaints during the follow-up process and feeling good after the follow-up for a night, was discharged on the third day. RF ablation device, except the liver tumors, is now used in treatment of kidney cancers and non-cancerous thyroid tumors. Cancer Patients Receive Treatment At Their Own Homeland It was also stated at the press statement released by the University of Near East Hospital that in accordance with the health protocols signed between the NEU Hospital and Ministry of Health and Foundation To Help Cancer Patients, the patients suffering from cancer have been provided with all the opportunities to receive treatment at our country, without going abroad in seek of treatment.

Near East University Music Education Graduate Students Participate in Training in Italy

Students and lecturers of Department of Music Education of Near East University attended summer school of “CAKA Masterclass & Concerti Classic Castello” and obtained various trainings. According to a press statement released by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Near East University, specialist and PhD student Neriman SOYKUNT, MA Student Ayşe DERMUŞ and lecturer and Presidential Symphony Orchestra Artist Sinem SADRAZAM attended to the summer school of “CAKA Masterclass & Concerti Classic Castello” and obtained various trainings between 9-17 July in Diano Castello City of Italy. In the summer school coordinated by Roberto Issoglio, 19 teachers, including Cihat AŞKIN from Turkey, have carried out teaching activities in 9 different areas, especially in viola, cello, piano and orchestra. This year the summer school received record participation and intensive activities such as individual and collective lessons, master classes (master), student concerts and yoga classes for instructors, concerts and social activities took place for participants.
