Message from the Head
Dear Students;
I would like to start my address by referring to the main aim of the School of Tourism and Hotel Management of Near East University: Our aim is to bring up competent managers and academicians of future who will be able to meet the demands of the sector, by providing a contemporary training program and field-related applications at an international standard. In other words, we aim to traing individuals; who are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and necessary skills, have developed a notion of analytic and practical thinking, are able to contribute to the sector, and who will be the academicians and/or managing staff of future in this field. We are working with a team spirit in achieving our aim and we are imposing a high quality education and training program. In fact, the course programs are designed to be based on theory and practical applications in order to prepare our students to be competent individuals within the tourism industry.
The language of instruction is English and students have also got the opportunity to learn Russian, German, Italian, French and Arabic.
Our school comprises fully equipped computer laboratories where students utilize the most contemporary computer programs that are widely used in the world today. Through such applications, the students are provided with an insight on computer programs which are being used within the tourism sector. Besides having the opportunity to carry out field work, related to the courses within the education program, students have the opportunity to recieve practical training in Dorona hotel,which is a NEU premise, as well as the Teacher Dining Hall and all other restaurants and cafeterias located on campus. In addition to those mentioned above, students have also got the opportunity to get practical applications in Dorona Travel Agency, in the Residence, and in M/Y TEAL Research Ship.
Upprehending the needs and requirements of the sector, we have raised the sense of awareness on the needs of collaborating with the sector in order to bring up individuals who are qualified in accordance with its needs. We have always shown sensitivity to be in collaboration with the sector. After our students graduate, especially in basic businesses of the sector such as Accommodation Businesses, Travel Agency, Food and Drink Business, our graduates have the opportunity to be employed as managers in these sectors. Within the bounds of possibility, we provide employment opportunities to our graduates, whether in tourism and travel agencies of our university or within the relative private sector. This provides privilege and opportunity in taking up a career after graduation.
I would like to conclude by reminding the students that we are always going to provide support throughout their training period and continue to do so even after they graduate, whether they own a business of their own, or whether they are employed in other relative institutions. Our support is always present and will always be so.
